Art Steps

Rules, Terms & Conditions

By subscribing to classes, I agree to the following:

Classes are a safe space for all children. Parents/guardians agree to supervise children and are responsible for their behavior at all times while class is in session. Any inappropriate or disruptive behavior on the part of the student or anyone who is visible or audible to the class will result in immediate expulsion of the student.

I attest that I am over 18 years of age.

I will schedule a 15-minute parent/student Orientation session as soon as possible, within the first week of classes.  During the Orientation, I will be able to schedule a weekly recurring class.

I understand that I have 30 days from the original purchase date to schedule weekly recurring recurring classes, or the 50% discount will no longer apply, and tuition will be credited toward future classes at the full rate, unless an exception has been communicated to me in writing.

I understand and agree that:

We regret that guests may not be brought to class. One student per Zoom window.

Parents/guardians are encouraged to stay in touch with the teacher or program manager for occasional updates.

While students typically tend to progress beautifully over time with the Art Steps program, all art is subjective, and artistic progress is not guaranteed for any particular student.

I understand that Art Steps must use text messages to schedule classes, schedule meetings, provide marketing reminders and communicate regarding my child’s progress. By purchasing a month of classes, I agree to receive text messages.

Families are responsible to purchase all supplies suggested. Best results are achieved with the use of Art Steps’ recommended brands.

BILLING AUTHORIZATION

I understand and agree that my credit card will be charged initially for 50% of the regular monthly tuition. After one month, my card will be charged at the full rate.

Tuition will be deducted each month at the rate of $150/month for 1.5-hour students or $100/month for 1 hour students, USD, on the date of the initial charge, or the first business day thereafter.

Special circumstances based on discussions with you may result on changes to your subscription date.

Tuition affords my student a space in a regularly recurring weekly art class, as well as student and parent access to a personal online gallery, parent access to the student’s Skill Tree through our Customer Portal, weekly printable worksheets and references, as well as optional 15-minute quarterly goal-setting check-in conferences.

Classes may be canceled through written notice to online@artstepsclasses.com within three business days before the recurring subscription billing date for the following month’s enrollment.

Tuition is non-refundable. If no mutually agreeable orientation time or class time can be found, tuition will be credited toward a future month.

No refunds will be issued to families not communicating with our office.

I am responsible for payment whether or not my student attends classes.

I represent and warrant that if I am purchasing something or paying for a service from this Art Steps, Inc. that (i) any credit card information I supply is true and complete, (ii) charges incurred by me will be honored by my credit card company or financial institution, and (iii) I will pay the charges incurred by me at the posted prices, including any applicable taxes, fees, and penalties.

I hereby authorize Art Steps, Inc. to charge my credit card account. New accounts are charged each month, one calendar month following the initial purchase date.

Should I dispute a charge through my financial institution this will constitute a breach of contract possibly resulting in, but not limited to, penalties, additional fees, collection, legal action, and/or termination of any and/or all current and future services.

Allow up to 36 hours for payment updates to appear in the billing section of the Art Steps Customer Portal.

YEAR-ROUND CLASSES: ABSENCES AND MAKEUPS

Each family is solely responsible for logging its students’ absences online using the Customer Portal. Link at http://www.ArtStepsClasses.com.

To schedule a makeup class for the Online Program, call 714-524-2248, or email online@artstepsclasses.com.

  •       Absences must be excused online by three (3) hours before the start of the missed class.
  •       Once the teacher confirms the excused absence by taking attendance for that class, a makeup token is generated.
  •       Up to two absences per calendar month may be made up.
  •     Each student has four weeks from the date of a missed class to make it up.
  •     PLEASE NOTE: Students must be actively enrolled for the month in order to attend a makeup class. Starting on the first business day of the month in which a student is no longer enrolled, access is no longer available.
  •       Once a makeup has been scheduled, it cannot be rescheduled. For this reason, we recommend scheduling makeups for today or tomorrow, when you are most confident that the student will be able to attend.
  •     Makeups appear where other students’ absences are logged, and are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
  •     Please log all absences to allow other students to make up and to help us schedule teachers.

If tuition is not received on time, the student’s place cannot be guaranteed.

Tuition credit and refunds are not given due to poor attendance or missed classes.   Classes are paid for by the month (not by the class), and the fee does not change for four or five weeks. Any student whose tuition is more than 2 weeks past due will be removed from class (after the first class of the month) unless prior arrangements have been made with the office. Registration Fees are not refundable.

YEAR-ROUND CLASSES: CANCELLATIONS

Families are requested to notify the office in advance if a student will not be re-enrolling next month. If a cancellation is made after the start of a month and tuition is paid, tuition will be credited toward a currently enrolled family member’s account, or to a future month in which the student restarts.

If a student is more than ten (10) minutes late to class, the teacher MUST receive a text message to hold the spot.

 PRORATES

*Continuing students’ classes are paid for by the full month except: To accommodate vacations, etc.: Once every twelve (12) months ONLY, a family may pay for one or more classes out of the month, per student, to hold that student’s spot for the following month. The paid class(es) can be attended, made up, or simply used as a placeholder.

COMMUNICATION

Art Steps communicates by email, text message, and telephone calls. I recognize that if I opt out of a communication method, I may miss important information including, but not limited to, changes to tuition, fees, class times, and emergency cancellations.

WORKSHOPS/CAMPS:

Enrollment Deadline:  If there is availability in a workshop, registration can only be guaranteed if scheduled online by midnight, the Friday before the start of the desired workshop.

Makeups: Each week a different workshop will be held. Due to this, no makeups will be given.

ALL ART STEPS PROGRAMS:

As the legal guardian of my designated student(s) (student(s)), I hereby consent to all student(s) participating in Art Steps Inc.’s program(s). I hereby COVENANT NOT TO SUE and FOREVER RELEASE Art Steps, Inc. its affiliated and partner companies and organizations, property owners and lessors, staff, contractors, subcontractors, teachers, owners, directors, and other members involved in this company’s program(s), from all liability and for any and all damages and injuries suffered by my student(s) during instruction, supervision, and/or control during any and all classes or extra activities.

Art Steps, Inc. and its agents, officers, and affiliates are not responsible for damaged computers or other property.

By registering you agree not to share or use copyrighted material sent to you or displayed online. All images and videos are copyright by Art Steps, Inc.

Families understand that while teachers work to handle any and all concerns during virtual class, on rare occasions , a student exhibiting disruptive behavior may be muted or placed into a waiting room. If this is the case, teachers will do their best to try to contact a parent/guardian to help with the child. In some cases, parent/guardian contact may not be possible during class hours. If disruptive behavior persists over more than one class, or at the sole discretion of the Director for any reason, the student may be expelled from the program.

Students’ artworks, first names, ages, images, and likenesses sometimes appear on the Art Steps website, brochures, flyers, social media pages, and other promotional materials. In order for a child’s image not to be used in such a manner, a parent or legal guardian will need to submit to the studio an email expressing his or her desire for the child not to be featured.

Art Steps policy prohibits staff from reaching out to or connecting with students via social media. However, if students initiate contact, teachers may choose to respond in a manner they deem to be professional. Art Steps cannot monitor or regulate all social media activity. Certain social media platforms do not allow staff to limit who can view their posted content. Art Steps is not liable for any manner in which teachers represent themselves online, or for any of their social media content. Parents are expected to monitor and limit students’ social media activity.

If a parent would like a teenager under the age of 18 to have direct contact with a teacher outside of class hours (for artwork advice via email or text), they agree to request and sign a waiver.

Policies are subject to change without notice and can be viewed through the Art Steps customer portal.
